La Cabronita Especial

 By Chris Swope

Fender touts the single pickup Cabronita as "the nastiest little guitar we've ever made."  I agree.  It is an absolute inspiration to play.  Personally, I've always been a huge fan of single pickup guitars.  The sonic purity delivered by a one pickup guitar is due to the absence of a second pickup, and hence a second set of magnets, influencing the arc of the string.  Many of the greatest tones of rock and roll, rockabilly and country have been recorded on single, bridge pickup solidbodies.  And the La Cabronita delivers a unique twist on the classic with its TV Jones Powertron pickup and Greasebucket tone circuit.  The single pickup La Cabronita is a heavy breather with an open, throaty, yet clear humbucking bite.  For me, this guitar is the essence of rock and roll distilled; a hot and sexy, rootsy, muse begging to be man-handled!  The excellent relic'ing of these guitars puts them firmly where my ear would have them be, as they have the soul of a guitar made fifty years ago.  Nitro finish? Bone nut?  You bet! And the quartersawn, 1-piece maple necks couple with the select light-weight alder bodies to create a serious acoustic shimmer when played unplugged.  At root, every electric guitar is an acoustic instrument first and foremost and Cabronitas select woods and Custom Shop build quality translates into a brilliant, collosal electrified sound!
