The New Martin “Carpathian Cannon” Custom Ds are here and they are awesome!
Available in Rosewood and Mahogany versions, these fine guitars provide a new level of tone and responsiveness while retaining the classic dreadnaught look.
The new “Kinetic Synergy” top and bracing are inspired by early 1940’s Martin Dreadnaughts, long famous for their great balance, reactive response, and power. The soundboard wood is Carpathian Spruce. Relatively new to guitar makers, it is quickly proving itself as a premier tone wood with just the right stiffness and density for maximum responsiveness. Combined with the special “rear set” bracing pattern, the “synergy” created allows more top vibration while remaining very balanced and not overly “boomy”.
The benefit of a more reactive and sensitive top is a guitar that responds to every small nuance of the player’s touch. This makes the “Carpathian Cannon” extremely versatile and allows it to perform well with any string gauge from ultra light to hefty mediums. It’s the perfect crossover acoustic for the electric player, and has plenty of power and clarity to satisfy even the most particular Bluegrasser.
