The 50th Anniversary of the 1959 Gibson Les Paul has brought many exciting sunburst finishes which have emulated the way original examples have faded over the past half century from the original Cherry Burst due to exposure to various climatic changes - both natural and manmade. The 50th Anniversary 1959 Gibson Les Paul in Antiquity Burst takes this concept to an entirely different level.
The Antiquity Burst represents the revelation one would encounter if he were to remove the pickguard on an original fifties burst for the first time. Areas that were for decades protected from UV exposure still maintain their original brilliant Cherry Burst.
This is true for all of the plastic covered parts on the burst. Below the toggle ring is also the original brilliant Cherry Burst and Gibson even replicated this under the pickup mounting rings!
The pickguard and toggle ring are included with the instrument for the new owner to decide if he wants to share the secret of the Antiquity Burst by leaving them off or install the toggle ring and guard and join the "Knights of the Secret Society of the Antiquity Burst!!!!"
